Illinois 77 Administrative Code 973, also known as the Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Services Act, a regulation pertaining to any and all Alzheimer’s disease or related dementia services, was adopted and passed into law effective June 2019.  

Section 973.140 deals specifically with requirements for Staff Training.  The State of Illinois requires Alzheimer’s Supervisors to be certified in dementia care. In addition, staff with direct access to persons with Alzheimer’s Disease or related dementia must complete a minimum of 6 hours of initial training within the first 60 days of employment and ALL staff must maintain continuing education each year.
